Dr. Gilbert H. "Gil" Francis

Elected to the position of Vice District Governor at the Multiple District Convention in May 2007, Lion Gilbert Francis is a member of the Satellite Beach Lions Club.

Vice District Governor Francis became a Lion in 1977 as a member of the Ewing, New Jersey Lions Club.  Lion Gil served on the Audit and Budget, Education, Community Betterment, Youth Activities, Health and Welfare as well as serving two terms as Lion Tamer.

Lion Francis transferred his membership in 2003 to the Satellite Beach Lions Club and has served as Vice President (2003-2004) and President in 2004-2005.

Vice District Governor Francis has served as the Zone Chair, and as District Chaplain 2006-2007.  He has sponsored 7 new members to the Satellite Beach Lions Club.

Professionally, Lion Gil served his country as a Military Intelligence Specialist and was decorated with the Army Service Medal for meritorious service.  He subsequently worked for the federal government and the State of New Jersey in the areas of civil rights and education.

Vice District Governor Francis is a Melvin Jones Fellow, a Grand Lion of the Florida Lions Foundation and has was presented with Life Membership in the Association in 2003..

Lion Gil and his wife Lion Dr. Edith (Ed.D.), have three grown children, and four grandchildren and have a passion for traveling having visited 45 states and more than 70 countries around the world reside in Melbourne.
