Contact Me

District 35-F begins at Florida's western border and extends across the northern panhandle. It has 39 Lions Clubs, 3 Leo Clubs, 2 Lioness Clubs, and 2 Lions Auxiliary Clubs located in it's 20 counties.

Elma "Nell" Simmons

Lion Elma "Nell" Simmons was elected District 35-F Governor at the district convention on March 30, 2007.

District Governor Simmons is a native of Georgia and moved to Florida as a teenager.  She became a member of the Pensacola Scenic Hills Lions Club in 2000 and has maintained 100% perfect attendance since then. Lion Nell has served her club as Treasurer, and currently serves as club President, as well as various other roles such as committee chair and project chair and as a member of the Board of Directors.  In 2002, Lion Nell was awarded Lion of the Year by her Club.

District Governor Simmons has served her district as Director and Project Chair for the Florida Lions Foundation for the Blind.  She also has served as a board member for the Pensacola Lions Eye Clinic since 2002 and as a director for the Florida Lions Conklin Center.  Lion Nell attended the Lions Leadership School in 2003-2004.

District Governor Simmons has attended numerous zone and cabinet meetings, Multiple District Conventions and the International Convention in addition to USA/Canada Leadership forums.

District Governor Simmons has received numerous District Governors awards, and the International Presidents Certificate of Appreciation.  She is a Mel Carver Fellow of the Florida Lions Camp, a Grand Lion of the Florida Lions Foundation for the Blind and is a Melvin Jones Fellow.

On a professional level, Lion Nell is a graduate of the University of West Florida with a degree in Criminal Justice and serves currently serves as a Probation Officer for the Florida Department of Corrections.  Lion Nell has received numerous professional awards including Employee of the Year in 1988 and Probation Officer of the Year in 1995 and served as President of the Chapter VI - Florida Council on Crime and delinquency Organization.  Lion Nell has two daughters and resides in Pensacola.
