District 35-L includes the following counties: Alachua, Baker, Bradford, Clay, Duval, Gilchrist, LaFayette, Levy, Marion, Nassau, Putnam, St Johns, Taylor and Union.

Michael C. Mason

Lion Michael C. Mason was elected District L Governor at the District Convention in March 30, 2007.

District Governor Mason has worked in the field of Event Management and Concert and Tour Production for over 25 years, and owns a Graphics Reproduction, Big Output Print Service Bureau, a Publishing and Printing Company.

He joined the Silver Springs Lions Club in 1973, and is now a member of the Belleview Noon Lions Club. District Governor Mason has held many offices within the association, including president, club board of director member for 17 years, Zone Chairman (3 times), Region Chairman and Deputy District Governor. Additionally he has served on the founding Board of Directors for the Florida Lions Camp, served as Multiple District Public Rations and Lions Information Chairman serves on the Board of Directors of the Lions Charitable Trust of Marion County, Inc., and is a graduate of the 2006 Southeastern Lions Leadership Institute. He also serves as the Certified Guiding Lion to both the Belleview Noon and Chiefland Lions Clubs.

District Governor Mason Co-Founded the Marion County Lions Eyeglass Reclamation Center and over the past 5 years has traveled or supplied over 60,000 pair of Lions Recycled Eyeglasses to the following nations through Lions Eyeglass Missions: Albania, Argentina, Bolivia, Brazil, Cambodia, China, El Salvador, Honduras, India, Mexico, Nepal, Peru and Tibet.

Lion Michael served in the United States Air Force as an Arial Combat Photographer with flight hours in both fixed wing and rotor aircraft which includes 113 Combat Missions in F-4 fighter aircraft, and has received the Vietnam Service Medal, 5 Air Force Commendation Medals, and the Bronze Star.  He founded the Marion County Fair in 1989, and it was later called the Marion County Lions Fair where thousands of dollars were raised and presented to participating Lions Clubs.

In recognition of his service to the association he has received numerous awards, including the club Lion of the Year (3 times), the 100% Club Presidents Award (3 times), the club President’s Award for Outstanding Leadership, Three District Governors Appreciation Awards, the District 35-L Bruce Mozert Award, the District 35-L Jack Stuart, PID Award, Fifteen Golden Chain Awards, the District 35-L Millard B. Conklin Crusader for Lionism Award, International Presidents Extension Award and two International Presidents Certificates of Appreciation. District Governor Mason holds a  Key Member Award.

District Governor Mason is the Council Chair Elect for Multiple District 35 for 2008-2009.
