Past International Director Neil R. Spencer, from Cocoa
Beach, Florida, USA, was elected to serve a two-year term as a director of
The International Association of Lions Clubs at the association’s 91st International
Convention, held in Bangkok, Thailand, June 23-27, 2008.
A Lion since 1987 and a member of the Cocoa Beach Seaside
Lions Club, Past Director Spencer has held many offices within the association,
including club president, zone chairperson, district governor and council
chairperson. In addition, he has served as a leadership and extension chairperson.
He has also served as chairperson of the Long Range Planning and Constitution
and By-laws committees and as webmaster and Information Technology chairperson
for Multiple District 35, as well as a board member of the Florida Lions
Foundation for the Blind and president of the Florida Lions Conklin Centers.
In recognition of his service to the association, Past Director
Spencer has received numerous awards, including Club Lion of the Year, eight
100% Club Secretary Awards, the 100% club President Award, the 100% District
Governor Award, two District Governor’s Extension Awards, a membership key,
three Golden Chain Awards, five International President’s Certificates of
Appreciation, the Leadership Medal, 3 International President’s Medals and
the Ambassador of Good Will, the highest honor bestowed upon association
members. He also has 22 years perfect attendance and is a Progressive Melvin
Jones Fellow.
In addition to his Lions activities, Past Director Spencer
is active in numerous professional and community organizations. He is a board
member and past president of both the Cocoa Beach High School Alumni Association
Educational Foundation and the Space Coast Little League. He was also recognized
by the City of Cocoa Beach with the key to the city and the proclamation
of May 19, 2006 as Neil R. Spencer Day.
Past Director Spencer is a former business owner and an
employee of the Boeing Company.
Past Director Spencer and his wife, Past District Governor
Donna, also a Lion and Melvin Jones Fellow, have one daughter Carrie and
Son-in-law Brock, also Lions, and one son Neil
