Our recovery service area spans from Pensacola to Jacksonville to Ocala.

In the late 1950's and early 1960's, the Lions in North Florida were concerned about the formation of an Eye Bank. After much discussion and many long hours, the Lions realized their dream. The North Florida Eye Bank for Sight Restoration, Inc. opened its doors in Gainesville, Florida on March 1, 1962. We recovered eye tissue from 70 donors in 1962.

On October 21, 1983, our named was changed to North Florida Lions Eye Bank, Inc.

The Eye Bank moved it's offices in 1995 to Jacksonville, Florida.

We are currently based on the 3rd floor of the Baptist Eye Institute. The Eye Bank applied for and was awarded accreditation by the Eye Bank Association of America in 1997.

In 2000, we received consent for and recovered eye tissue from 907 donors in our local area.
